NEWER HOMES STILL NEED SYSTEM-SPECIFIC INSPECTIONS
Many Fulshear and Katy homes were built with manufactured fireplaces, sealed gas appliances, decorative chimney chases, factory-built venting, and complex rooflines. Newer construction does not mean every component was installed correctly, remained undamaged, or has been maintained according to the manufacturer’s requirements.
Settlement, storms, roof replacement, trade work, missing documentation, and ordinary component wear can change a system after construction. Viking Chimney Solutions evaluates the fireplace and venting that are actually installed rather than making assumptions based on the age or appearance of the home.
LEVEL 2 INSPECTIONS FOR HOME PURCHASES AND WARRANTY PERIODS
A $175 Level 2 fireplace and chimney inspection combines accessible visual inspection with camera-assisted scanning and thermal imaging. It is especially valuable before purchasing a home, before a builder or manufacturer warranty expires, after major roof or remodeling work, or whenever the fireplace’s history is unknown.
A Level 2 inspection looks beyond the exterior. An outside-only visit cannot verify the firebox, concealed flue or venting, internal connections, or complete fireplace function. If Craig only examines the exterior, he cannot guarantee the function of the full system. When the condition of the complete fireplace matters, Level 2 is the appropriate starting point.
The report documents observable conditions and inspection limitations so buyers and owners can make decisions based on evidence. Findings may lead to maintenance, repairs, manufacturer research, additional evaluation, or restricted use.
MANUFACTURED AND GAS FIREPLACE SERVICE
Fulshear and Katy homes commonly contain manufactured wood-burning fireplaces, vented gas log systems, direct-vent fireplaces, and other sealed gas appliances. Viking Chimney Solutions inspects and services pilots, valves, switches, remotes, control modules, refractory panels, venting components, and accessible fireplace connections.
Gas fireplace inspection and diagnostic service is $150. Repairs and replacement recommendations are based on verified conditions, available components, and manufacturer requirements—not guesswork or unnecessary parts swapping.
LONG DRYER VENTS AND BOOSTER FANS
Large floor plans often place the laundry room far from an exterior wall. Long vent routes, multiple turns, attic runs, roof terminations, and booster fans can restrict airflow or collect lint in areas that cannot be seen from behind the dryer.
The $225 dryer vent inspection and cleaning includes cleaning, airflow testing, backpressure testing when appropriate, and evaluation of accessible connectors, terminations, and booster-fan operation. Craig documents crushed ducting, disconnected sections, failed fans, improper terminations, and other conditions that need separate correction.
CHIMNEY CHASES, CHASE COVERS, AND ROOFLINE LEAKS
Many manufactured fireplaces are enclosed inside framed chimney chases. Rusted chase covers, failed storm collars, deteriorated sealant, roof-to-chase transitions, siding or trim damage, and wind-driven rain can allow water to enter around the system.
An exterior assessment is $75 and is credited toward approved repairs. It can document accessible chase-cover, cap, flashing, masonry, roofline, and water-entry concerns. Because an exterior assessment does not examine the complete fireplace, Craig clearly identifies what was and was not inspected.

Craig is Chimney Certified through the National Chimney Sweep Guild, an NFI Gas Specialist, and a Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician. You work directly with the certified technician who performs the inspection and explains the findings—not a salesperson passing the job to someone else.

Can you inspect a fireplace before the builder warranty expires?
Yes. A documented Level 2 inspection can identify observable concerns while warranty discussions may still be possible. Warranty coverage and decisions remain with the builder, manufacturer, or warranty provider.

Yes. Craig inspects and services manufactured fireplaces, gas log systems, sealed gas appliances, controls, pilots, valves, switches, remotes, refractory panels, and accessible venting components within the verified scope of the appointment.
Do you test dryer vent booster fans?
Yes. Craig can evaluate accessible booster-fan operation along with airflow and backpressure, then document whether cleaning, correction, or fan replacement is recommended.
Can you diagnose a leak around a chimney chase?
Yes. An exterior assessment can document accessible chase covers, storm collars, sealant, caps, siding, trim, masonry, and roofline conditions. A Level 2 inspection is recommended when water may have affected the fireplace or concealed venting.
